My name is Ani, short for Anelia. I am from Sofia, Bulgaria, but I live in The Netherlands where I moved to study in 2015 and thereafter stayed for work and to live there. I work as a Software Engineer at a digital pathology AI company based in the US, so 100% remote. This gives me a good chance to taste the Digital Nomad’s life a few times a year – not too often because I’ve got too many plants, birds, and wild hedgehogs to take care of in one way or another :)))

I am interested in technology, coding, traveling, but my biggest passion is animal and nature conservation. I am not a vegan or a vegetarian, but trying to get to the vegetarian side as soon as possible for obvious reasons..

I love reading books – mostly fantasy, non-fiction, and criminal. Oh also love technical books related to my work and/or interests in this field. But these are more like studying, because i highlight, write notes, etc and it goes slooooow, compared to regular books. I try to improve my skills and knowledge in all sorts of aspects – from astrology through history to criminology etc. I’ve got a few main hobbies – carnivorous plants, birdwatching, hedgehogs, and bird monitoring with cameras, i love learning their behaviour and seeing new life coming up ^_^ .

About the blog: I started being a bit more active in this blog recently (from 2023) even though it exists for quite a while. The reason being that I wanted to keep a handwritten notebook when i travel but it seems I never get to find the time for it and also i write TERRIBLY ugly and if i wanted to write with a beautiful script, I’d have to spend decades writing only about one trip. So I just can’t keep up, writing on a keyboard is waay easier and therefore I moved here. I aim to tell the story exactly as I remember it with the good and bad things, down to the smallest of the details, so that one day, when I read these stories, I will remember exactly how I felt. I have the ability to connect moments of my life and the exact feelings I felt right there and then based on a smell, a little detail or a song I’ve heard in that moment exactly. So that’s why I write it here – mostly for myself, but feel free to read the stories if you’re interested. They will be written exactly as if me and you are sitting at the coffee table, having a chat and casually telling each other stories 🙂
