About Saigon, i was a bit worries mostly about pickpocketing and it’s very common there that you get your bag pulled as you walk by a passing motorbike driver. So I was always walking with my bag towards the inner part of the sidewalk and way paying attention to passersby. Crossing the streets in Saigon as well as in Hanoi, is one of the scariest but also funniest things you’d experience. There is literally no way to cross but just.. cross.. I mean you just have to step on the road and the traffic will start going around you, you just have to keep walking and never stop and never turn back, and the oncoming traffic will just go around you. Of course, some common sense comes into play to not just jump in front of a vehicle when it’s too near and has no time to see you. So we walked around the city, checked out the monument of Ho Chi Minh and decided to find a Sky bar. Found one, an amazing bar, and went there for a drink. Beautiful bar near the monument of Ho Chi Minh that you could see from the top and a magnificent view of modern buildings around with flashing colourful lights. I got a bit drunk and we were laughing a lot 😀 I took a selfie of us and i’m a bit ashamed to look at it, to be honest 😀 Because my eyes are crazy red and i am laughing like a “repichka” (radish) like we say in Bulgaria 😀
The next day we had a tour around the Mekong delta. While it was beautiful to be on a boat around Jackfruit trees, it was not what I expected – my lack of proper research led to me not seeing any mangrove trees at all which is what i wanted to see the most. What we did see though, was quite a bit of trash in the water 🙁 and a boat ride around some obviously converted to fruit trees part of the forest around the Mekong river. It was quite short and in between houses, it was like a walk in a city, but on a boat. I wasn’t impressed at all and to be honest, i consider this a total waste of money. Better go to the Monkey forest, it’s another option around Saigon but with monkeys and proper mangrove forest. That’s pretty much it about Saigon for me. Or at least that’s the only thing i remember now, 1.5y later.
